Junior zwyciężył w Polish Open

Mariusz Skoneczny z klubu Duet Lipiński Dachy w niesamowitym stylu zwyciężył w drugim turnieju Dynamic Billard Best of the East 2008. W serii Dynamic Best of the East 2007 zajął 3 miejsce w Kijowie. Podczas zawodów w Łodzi dokonywał jednak rzeczy z pozoru niemożliwych. W pojedynku z kadrowiczem, mistrzem Polski Hubertem Łopotko z Trefla Sopot przegrywał 2:6 by zwyciężyć 7:6. W Polish Open wystąpili sportowcy z Bułgarii, Ukrainy, Litwy, Rumunii i Polski. Łącznie było ich 122. Ku zaskoczeniu nie dojechali Słowacy, Czesi, Białorusini i Węgrzy. Najlepszy z obcokrajowców Yevgeny Nowosad z Kijowa zajął 9. miejsce. Lider rankingu, zwycięzca pierwszych zawodów Best of the East w 2008 roku Artiom Koshevoy z Ukrainy odpadł w 1/16 finału.

15.05, a powtórzony 2 maja o godz. 11.50. Kolejny turniej w Bułgarii w dniach 5-6 lipca.

Junior Skoneczny is the Winner of the Polish Open 2008.

Mariusz Skoneczny (Duet Lipinski Dachy Tomaszow Maz. Poland) has won, in an unbelievable style, the second edition of the Dynamic Billiard Best of the East, the Polish Open 2008.

The tournament took place in the Club „Frame” in Lodz. The 18 years old defeated, in the final, Mateusz Sniegocki (Hades Poznan Poland), 7:0. Such a win over Sniegocki, who is three times Polish Champion, World Championships Bronze Medalist and two times European Juniors Champion, was quite a surprise. However, Skoneczny has not sprung from nowhere. He has already got 7 medals of the Polish Juniors Championships and 6 medals from the European Juniors Championships. In the Best of the East series he has got the 3rd place in the Ukraine Open in Kiev. This Polish Open 2008 was a hard work for him all the way through. In the match against Polish National Team player, Hubert Lopotko, Mariusz trailed 2;6, to win 7:6. in the Semifinal match against Radoslaw Babica he was down 1:7, race to 9! Everybody was just sure this match was over. Mariusz worked hard and, against all odds, he won 9:8. On the winners podium, next to the two finalists, there were two „old hands”: R. Babica (Nosan Kielce Poland) and Tomasz Kapłan (Osemka Rzeszow Poland). In the best eight there were no less than seven Polish National Team players: two just mentioned on the 3rd place, also Piotr Kudlik (Trefl Sopot Poland), Karol Skowerski (Nosan Kielce Poland) and Dawid Hering (Hades Poznan Poland). The last remaining of the best eight was Dawid Jędrzejczak (Trefl Sopot Poland). 122 players took part in the Polish Open 2008. They were sportsmen from Bulgaria, Ukraine, Lithuania, Romania and Poland. Surprisingly, there was no one from Slovakia, Czech Republic, Belarus nor Hungary. The best non Polish player was Yevgeniy Nowosad from Kiev Ukraine, who took the 9th place. The overall ranking leader, the winner of the first edition of the Best of the East 2008, Artiom Koshevoy was defeated in the 1/16 final match. At the same stage, the previous tournament runner-up, Cristea Ovidiu Romania was defeated too According to the Tournament Regulations there were some special awards. The Best Woman Player of the Tournament was Karolina Stawarz (Osemka Rzeszow Poland) and Mariusz Skoneczny also took the award for the Best Junior Player; surely there was no one better!!! In the overall ranking Artiom Koshevoy is still in the lead (165 pts.). On the second place there are, on the same points, no less than four Challengers. The beginning of this years series could not have been more interesting than this.

During the Tournaments Opening Ceremony the series Director, Marcin Krzeminski awarded the Manager of the Belgian company Ivan Simonis present, Jean-Francois Schmitz, for the, over the years, active support to the Polish billiard sports. Mr Schmitz was there on the working visit and watched the Tournament very closely, giving his attention to all details. Also, there was the presentation of the Polish National Team new sportswear; and the music show of the Maltese pop-star, guitarist Silvio Schembri. The Mayor of the City of Lodz was the Patron of the Tournament and for the subsequent time the Club „Frame” was the „Perfect Host”. Thanks to the Company „Cleaner” and its co-owner, Mr Krzysztof Gardjas, the Club „Frame” and the City of Lodz place themselves right in the centre of Polish Billiard sport. The Polish Open 2008 referees squad worked fast, smoothly and proficiently: the Head Referee – Waldemar Debski (Poznan); other referees were: Marek Marcinkowski (Kielce), Dariusz Kobacki (Tomaszow Mazowiecki) and Marcin Grosz (Lubartow). The final match was televised; it will be broadcasted on the Polish section of the TELE 5 Channel on the 1st of May 2008, 15.05 hrs, and, it will be repeated on the 2nd of May 2008, 11.50 hrs. The next tournament of the Dynamic Best of the East series is scheduled for the 5-6 of July 2008 in Burgas Bulgaria.
